YOU can help save homeless German Shepherd Dogs...

by becoming a member of MVGSDR, Inc.!

To join and be included on our mailing list, please e-mail me at:

Once a member, you will receive a quarterly newsletter containing updates on events and activities, and be eligible to submit your articles for printing. We will have a Memorial Page and Welcome Page where members may pay tribute to their canine loved ones. Membership costs only $50 a year and can be charged online using our Pay Pal link. What an easy and fun way to support MVGSDR and the many homeless German Shepherds in need!

Other ways to help?

We are seeking dedicated volunteers who are willing to donate their time, energy, and any skills they possess to help us save German Shepherd Dogs that desperately need our help. Volunteers can transport dogs, help with home and dog evaluations, assist with fundraising and setting up public education events, pass out information about the Rescue, FOSTER a dog, or add any of their talents to help save and place needy German Shepherd Dogs in new, loving, FOREVER homes.

The only thing required of our volunteers is that they have a love for the German Shepherd Dog breed.  In order to help us get to know you and focus on your talents, all volunteers will be asked to fill out an application.  If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for Mississippi Valley German Shepherd Dog Rescue, please contact us and we will send you information and an application.

Of course, we will gratefully take any kind of donation, monetary or otherwise, i.e. X-Large GSD size crates, leashes, collars, toys, etc.

Any monetary donations can be sent to:

Mississippi Valley German Shepherd Dog Rescue

MVGSDR can accept donations online through our secure Pay Pal account. All donations go to helping the dogs in our care. All donations are tax deductable!

If you would like to donate a crate or other items for the dogs, please call us at

309-797-0873  and we will set up a time to come and pick up your donations.

Jade has an autoimmune condition requiring meds for her eyes. This medication is costly but with the vet care and management she will live a normal life. Your donations help us help her!

Our dogs come from shelters, animal control, humane societies and, occasionally, from owners who are forced to relinquish their pets. Each dog that comes into MVGSDR will receive a full initial general exam, including vaccinations for Rabies, DHLPP-C (Distemper) and Bordetella, a heartworm blood test and a fecal test. Depending upon the dog's physical condition, more tests may be performed and medication administered if necessary. All dogs which go through our program are spayed or neutered before being placed with a new family. If the dog is not spayed or neutered when it comes into the Rescue, that procedure is done prior to placement.  ALL dogs are micro-chipped.  Home evaluations are done before any dog goes into foster care and before any dog gets adopted.

We strive to educate the public about the German Shepherd Dog. If you have any questions about MVGSDR, or would like to become a volunteer, foster home or just want to know more about the breed, please feel free to contact us. We will gladly answer any questions and provide any information that you might need.
